In this post I’m sharing healthy Halloween recipes! Pin it here.
Who is getting excited for Halloween?! I can pass on scary movies, but things I am into are: cute costumes, a good haunted house and… Halloween parties! And look, I’m all about having “full-fun” foods, buuuut sometimes around the holidays there is so much it can get excessive. So I teamed up with some of my dietitian friends to bring you our favorite lighter fare options if you’re hosting or contributing to a Halloween party!

Healthy Halloween Recipes
When I’m hosting a party, I usually have a good mix of “these are definitely very nutritious” to “these are lighter than most” to “these are super delicious but maybe don’t eat twelve of them.” I never want anyone to leave feeling way overdone or on the flip side that they need to stop for a Big Mac on the way home. Balance, right?
Alright, that said, let’s BOO-gy on over to these healthy Halloween recipes including beverages, appetizers or snacks and dessert!
Healthy Halloween Smoothies
Witches Brew Smoothie (Vegetarian, Gluten-Free) by Betsy Ramirez. I love the little “cauldrons” she serves these in. I found these cute similar ones on Amazon and these biodegradable straws
in black and orange!
Pumpkin Pie Smoothie (Vegetarian, Gluten-Free) by Amy Gorin Nutrition. I think the only thing better than eating pumpkin pie… is drinking pumpkin pie, IMO.
Healthy Halloween Appetizers & Snacks
Skeleton Spread (Vegan) by Whitney E. RD. Is this not THE cutest little veggie spread you’ve ever seen?! I love the bell peppers for ribs, and the olive pieces for the face in the dip.
Spooky Black Bean Hummus (Vegan) by Karman Meyer RD, LDN, author of upcoming ‘Eat To Sleep’ from Simon and Schuster (May 2019). Dips are so perfect for parties! Most hummus is made from chickpeas, but this is made from black beans for a spooky spread!
Skyr-Filled Jack O’Lanterns (Vegetarian, Gluten-Free) by Triad to Wellness. These are so darn cute! They are nutrient-rich, filled with fresh fruit, pumpkin seeds and high-protein Icelandic skyr yogurt.
Pumpkin Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Energy Balls (Vegetarian) by Jessica Ivey, RDN. All you have to do is combine the words pumpkin, peanut butter and chocolate… and I’m there.
Monster Mouth Bites (Vegetarian, Gluten-Free) by Brynn McDowell, RD at The Domestic Dietitian. Apples and peanut butter are one of my favorite snacks!
Spooky Energy Eyeballs (Vegetarian) by Beautiful Eats and Things. Underneath that creepy-looking eye is a yummy, cranberry and chocolate energy ball!
Healthier Halloween Desserts
Maple Walnut Pumpkin Donuts (Vegetarian) by Elizabeth Ward, MS, RD. I’m not drooling, YOU’RE drooling! These puppies are ~150 calories “cheaper” than a donut on the reg, 1/3 of the total fat and 3x the fiber. I’d get that oven preheated if I were you…
Mini Graveyard Dirt Cakes (Vegetarian) by Jenny Shea Rawn MS, MPH, RD nutrition communications consultant and recipe developer at My Cape Cod Kitchen. I love the white-chocolate covered walnuts for tombstones!
Easy Dark Chocolate Quinoa Halloween Bark by Nourish Nutrition Co. Holiday bark is so snackable! These little candy chunks are certainly calling my name!
Candy Corn Parfaits (Vegetarian, Gluten-Free) by Salubrious RD. These candy corn-inspired fruit cups are adorable! I would even make them in these mini parfait cups to stretch your fruit for a larger crowd.
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins (Vegetarian) by me :). This is one of my favorite pumpkin, chocolate chip recipes and it is always a crowd pleaser! I make this moist recipe several times each fall! I used cute Halloween muffin liners and picks for festive serving.
Brown Butter Pumpkin Tahini Bars (Vegetarian, Gluten-Free) by Dishing Out Health. Literally my mouth is watering reading through this recipe! It uses almond flour instead of regular, so it works for those following a gluten-free diet too!
