Stone fruits are in season for summer and it has me daydreaming of juicy, fruit dishes. From overnight oats to crisp summer salads, fabulous appetizer skewers to drool-worthy desserts, I’ve got you covered! I’ve corralled some amazing stone fruit recipes from my super foodie dietitian friends and you are going to love them!
What’s a Stone Fruit?
Peaches, plums, nectarines, apricots and cherries are succulent fruits that all have a hard pit sometimes referred to as a “stone.” Stone fruits are primarily in season from June to September, and since they don’t store well or survive low temperatures we don’t see them around during the winter months. So… basically I’m saying we need to eat all the stone fruits ASAP!
Stone fruits are best ripened at room temperature and then they can be moved to the refrigerator until you’re ready to eat them (or use them in a recipe!).
